Part-time Science/ICT Technician
A Small Secondary School in South Gloucestershire are looking for a Science/ICT Technician to start as soon as possible. This is a part-time contract to commence as soon as possible with a chance going to a permanent contract
In a recent Ofsted report the school received good for the overall effectiveness of the school " a good and improving school.. the colleges good attention to individual students is encouraged by its small size"
The school are looking for an experienced Science/ICT Technician who can cover all Science Fields up to GCSE level and also have an understanding of ICT equipment
Your duties will include the following
- Responsible for the running and maintenance of the Science laboratories and their preparation rooms and day to day maintenance of College ICT equipment
- Preparation of school (Y7 - Y11) science lesson requirements, including laying out of apparatus, equipment, chemicals, books, etc. Clearing away and storage after use. Maintenance of stock and ordering supplies
- The making up of solutions from concentrated acids/alkalis and other various molar solutions, together with bench solutions.
- General up keep of Science Technician laboratory.
- During the absence of Science teaching staff, providing supply staff with the work set and ensuring that they understand what is required. Essential with non-specialist staff. At the end of lesson checking progress in order to ascertain requirements for future lessons.
- Overseeing and updating the Science resources storage catalogue and ensuring the Science inventory is kept up to date
- ICT - To detect, diagnose and resolve PC, peripheral and application errors
to support staff and pupils in the use of ICT resources in liaison with the Subject Leader of ICT through direct interaction and by producing simple help sheets
- To perform basic diagnostic and recovery routines on network equipment; configure network clients with appropriate server information and software; to respond to support requests according to school procedures, recording detailed diagnostic information and using appropriate knowledge bases/logs to inform diagnosis and resolution
- To support staff and pupils in the use of ICT resources in liaison with the Subject Leader of ICT through direct interaction and by producing simple help sheets
- Familiarise oneself with school policy documents, schemes of work and curriculum plans; attend relevant meetings
You will need to show:
- Good science syllabus awareness or a willingness to learn
- The ability to work well within a team of technical staff.
- A good awareness of COSH safety protocol.
