JOB TITLE Production Lab Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION

An opportunity has arisen within the Transmissions & Mechanical Parts Centre of Excellence for the position of Production Lab Manager, to lead a team responsible for providing materials laboratory support to production areas, and process approvals of suppliers.

Main responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

1.Review and interpret current customer and regulatory requirements for production materials processes and ensure that production controls meet these requirements, to include:
*Heat Treatment and related processes
*Surface treatments and coatings
*Bonding and welding
2.Lead the team of materials specialists and technicians able to fulfil the requirements for testing and analysis of these processes.
3.Provide resource to approve external companies to carry out such processes as required.
4.Provide advice to other Transmissions departments on interpretations of customer and regulatory requirements.
5.Career development of team members.
6.Lead the development of improvements in operations materials processes.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

*Educated to degree level in materials science or related discipline. Extensive experience of Aerospace transmission processes and quality requirements.
*Ability to lead and motivate others to contribute their best and meet and exceed customer expectations.
*Good planning and organisational skills, to manage resources and identify and manage risks and changes in workload.
*The ability to think beyond existing experience to develop practical and time saving solutions to problems.
*Commitment to maintaining highest professional and ethical standards.
