Hays Education is currently recruiting for people to work as Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Mentors within Secondary schools in the Gloucestershire area. As a Teaching Assistant within a mainstream Secondary school, you would be supporting pupils across KS3 and KS4 in small groups or on an individual basis.

 

The job role

As a Teaching Assistant/Learning Support Mentor you would be working alongside the teachers and Behavioural Support Team within schools to support pupils of all ability who need help to overcome difficulties that are hindering their learning.

Pupils may have problems such as



- poor attendance 

- lack of self-confidence, self-esteem or motivation

- failure to achieve their full potential

- behavioural or emotional difficulties 

- difficulty settling into school and making relationships with other pupils or staff

- personal crises such as bereavement, bullying, trouble with the police or problems at home

- Minimum of 3 months experience working with children and young people in the last 2 years

- Recent and relevant referees

- Proven behaviour management skills

- Ability to use initiative and make positive and valuable contributions to the wider school community

- Experience of supporting children with Special Educational Needs is preferable

The ideal candidate must be a positive, enthusiastic individual who can be a role model for children from a diverse range of backgrounds.

All applicants must have a minimum of 40 days experience working with young people in an educational setting.
