Special Needs Teacher required for January 2010.
A Special Needs school in Gloucestershire are looking to recruit an SEN Teacher to work with Key Stage 3 & 4 aged children. Experience of Maths to GCSE level would be an advantage.
The position is to work in a small challenging yet rewarding unit where the children have severe emotional and behavioural difficulties.
You will be working as part of a team in this very specialised unit teaching all subjects at Key Stage 3 and 4 level. The pupils will need to be taught to GCSE level Maths so experience or a specialism in Maths would be an advantage.
The ideal candidate will have recent experience of working with children with emotional and behavioural difficulties and be comfortable working as part of a team.
You will be responsible for developing I.E.P's on all KS3/4 pupils and evaluating and updating as necessary. You will work closely with educational psychologists and others to this end.
This Special Needs unit on the outskirts of Gloucester offers National Curriculum with a focus on core subjects of English, science and maths. 'Academic' Subjects such as the core subjects and IT, RE, humanities and French are delivered in 45 minute lessons in the morning, when most pupils have their maximum attention span. Afternoons are given over to Creative Subjects such as art and drama, physical education and Social Skills Training. There is also an emphasis on providing bright displays of pupils work as a way of enhancing self esteem.
