A unique job opportunity has arisen for a training advisor and mentor to work with young people as part of a multi-disciplinary learning centre.

The job

- Supporting the delivery of work-based curricula for activities undertaken at the centre, which are suitable for use with 16-19 year old people from the NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) group

- To establish procedures and practice that ensures effective planning of life skills and employability skills under a common inspection framework

- To provide a planning and review facility for the personal development of learners

- To support a system of encouragement and boundaries for learners which develops their key, life and employability skills

- To enhance and implement a system of action planning and review sessions with learners, which have the ultimate target of development and improvement of their work and key skills

- To enhance and support the implementation of a set of boundaries and processes which improves learners'  timekeeping and attendance and encourages positive outcomes for them as well as their array of transferable work skills

Requirements

- A relevant qualification in one of the following areas would be an advantage

- Information Advice and Guidance

- Teaching or training

- Coaching or related skills

- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build a natural and trusting rapport based on mutual respect, with both learners and staff

- Experience of offering advice and guidance to young people

- The ability to set boundaries and manage the learning and personal needs of young people

- Desire to inspire and encourage young people, building confidence

- Understanding of targeting and reviewing

- Ability to work flexibly with  timetable including support and administration
