Senior Electronics Engineer
The job holder will be responsible for leading a team of Electronics Engineers. This will involve setting priorities and workloads for the team, leading the team to work with other disciplines to ensure tasks are completed on time and under budget.
The role will also consist of taking the lead on Electronic Hardware Design of new design projects, and implementing the Electronic aspects of Engineering Change Orders. In addition to leading the team the candidate must be technically very competent and capable of ``getting their hands dirty`` designing circuits, checking schematics and writing code.
Working on Electronic Counter Measures (ECM) and Robotics products and often needing to help develop new methods, the role will suit innovative candidates that have good mathematical and analytical skills, supported with a degree in a maths, science or engineering subject. An appreciation of software and previous experience with Radio Communications will be an advantage.
Responsibility
- Managing a small team of Electronic Engineers and support staff.
o Defining and maintaining processes
o Setting work packages
o Contributing to departmental planning and budgeting
- Designing and supporting circuits using:
o Phillips/NXP ARM7 Processors: LPC2138, LPC2468
o Xilinx Microblaze soft-core processors
o PIC Processors
- High Level System and circuit design for:
o Electronic Warfare Systems
o Remotely Operated Vehicle Systems
- Producing documentation:
o Requirement, functional, design and test specifications
- Testing
o Hardware
o Systems
- General Management
o Team and Individual Communication
o Team development
o Progress reviews
o Day to day employee relations issues
o Liaison with HR and other departments
- Manage the output to PLM and ERP systems as required to ensure Production have access to complete, current and correct data.
- Interface with Production Engineering to ensure product transitions smoothly to production
- Manage compliance testing + approval to commercial, Military and Defence Standards
- Troubleshoot and improve existing products
- Undertake any other reasonable task required by the Line Manager.
Knowledge and Qualifications
- FPGA Design Techniques
- DSP Design Techniques
- Degree in Maths, Science or an Engineering Subject
- Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role
- Certificate/ Diploma in Management or similar

- Understanding of Radio Communications eg. Spread-spectrum/GSM/CDMA/WiFi
- Design of Safety Critical Systems
