Software Project Engineer Requirements
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Support Systems Department for the position of Ground Based Systems Project Engineer (software), to work on short, medium and long-term Mission Planning, Health and Usage Monitoring System (HUMS) and Ground Logistic System development projects. You will be responsible for defining software applications and requirements, interfacing with both the software development team and the client / end user.
Main responsibilities will include:
*Analyse the Customer software requirements to define the most appropriate Ground Based System solution for operational support in terms of maintenance, logistic and mission planning
*Managing the interface between Customer, prime contractor, and suppliers
*Guidance to internal departments and customer users and provider/deciders on the features and operation of ground station software
*Interface with other departments to ensure that requirements for software developments are met
*Work with the Dept Software Team to define the system functional requirements to allow software design, development and testing
*Qualify and certify the Ground Based Systems with respect to the Customer required standards
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
*HND or higher in a relevant engineering or IT systems-related subject, or a recognised apprenticeship accompanied by relevant experience in one or more of: aircraft avionics, aircraft maintenance, aircraft operation, IT systems
*Experience of software testing best practices and methodologies
*Excellent interpersonal skills orientated to the customer and suppliers
*Comprehensive knowledge of software in an aerospace environment
*Knowledge of on-aircraft systems
*Expertise in the implementation of industry standard software development methodologies
