HOTEL DESCRIPTION
The Wyastone Hotel is a small, 13 bedroom, family owned and run private hotel, being operated as a ‘metro hotel’. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who would like to gain some all round hands on experience in a small hotel.
JOB DESCRIPTION
During the first 6 months the successful candidate will be trained in almost all parts of running the hotel, starting from the basics i.e. cleaning rooms. Within a short period of time, the successful candidate will be capable of running the hotel in the absence of the owners, including staying over night on occasions. Jobs will include (not in any particular order):
· Answering all enquiries that come in via telephone, internet or email
· Manage the computer booking system
· Check-ins and check-outs, including cash and credit card handling
· Being friendly and welcoming to the guests
· Other reception duties where necessary
· Pricing and marketing
· Supervising housekeeping staff and preparing staff rotas
· Housekeeping in all parts of the hotel, including bedrooms
· Cooking and or serving breakfasts
· Health and safety issues
· Preparing and serving drinks and snacks
· Other ad hoc duties as necessary
This job will provide excellent training for someone who wants to own or run their own hotel in the future, and relevant external training courses are available.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
The right candidate will have an outgoing personality, a pleasant manner and be customer focused. A good telephone manner is essential, and you will be numerate and literate, fluent in English, computer literate (a sound knowledge of word and excel), organised, neat and tidy, with attention to detail. Ability to use initiative and ‘think outside the box’ is required. A smart appearance is very important as you will be the first impression of the hotel for the guest. You must be willing to learn and accept responsibility. Must be very flexible regards working hours as there is a high proportion of unsociable working hours – eg weekends and evenings.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
Good grades at Maths and English GCSE (or equivalent)
Desirable
Hospitality or business degree
EXPERIENCE
None necessary, but it would be useful to have had some hotel or customer service experience.
SALARY ETC.
For the first six months salary will be £13,000 per annum. This may increase with more responsibility and experience, but will be entirely dependent on performance and trading conditions. The trainee will be expected to work a wide ranging, flexible shift system.
The position is live out. No accommodation is provided except for night duty sleepover.
STARTING
The job is available from middle or end of August and is permanent.
