Rotor Dynamics Engineer
JOB DESCRIPTION
The department is responsible for the qualification/certification of the rotor system for the stability aspects and design loads. It further undertakes innovative research into future Rotor Systems developments and design methods, looking at new configurations and components, new methods and component improvements. Responsible for research studies into new blade dynamic designs, aeroelastic analytical methods and models.
The post holder will be responsible for:
*Specific allocated tasks in the dynamic design, development and qualification of all rotor systems.
*Analysis, prediction and qualification of vibratory loads and/or stability characteristics of rotor systems.
*Determining rotor static loads for rotor strength qualification, including the analysis of limit blade motions to ensure that blade motions are free from impacts on the rotor hub and fuselage structure.
Main areas of technical responsibility will include:
*Use of design techniques and rotor blade Eigen analysis to define the rotor hub and blade structural dynamic mass and stiffness properties, to provide low-vibration rotor designs.
*Prediction and correlation of rotor loads methods that define the limits of the structural capability of the rotor systems.
*Use of test data analysis to correlate and correct methods for the prediction of the vibratory forcing on the airframe.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
The role is highly technical and together with the attitude to learn and investigate the dimensions, experience and knowledge of helicopter rotors and dynamics aspects are required in order to carry out the role effectively. The successful candidate will, therefore, have the following skills, knowledge and experience:
*Degree in a relevant subject (e.g. aeronautical engineering, other engineering, science or mathematics.)
*A fundamental knowledge of advanced mathematics applied to non-linear dynamic systems.
*Knowledge and experience in the analytical simulation and aeromechanics of rotor systems.
*Basic knowledge of rotor aerodynamics.
*Analytical comprehension of non-linear dynamic equations.
*Fundamental understanding of vibration analysis.
*Basic principles of Rotorcraft Flight Mechanics.
*Good communication skills.
*FORTRAN, Matlab softwares skills
